Complete Dentures
False teeth serve as a substitute for your real teeth and gums. A mould of your teeth is used to create complete dentures customized to your specifications.
There are two types of dentures in this category:
Immediate dentures: They are suggested when your natural teeth need extraction.
Standard dentures: These are recommended when you have dentures and need to replace them due to breakage, wear or dissatisfaction.
Things to Avoid with Complete Dentures
When you get full dentures, there are a few things that you should try to avoid. Here is a list of those:
Avoid brushes with stiff bristles, powerful cleaners, and harsh toothpaste as they are abrasive and can harm your dentures.
Peroxide is commonly used in toothpaste and is marketed as a whitening paste. However, we suggest patients brush their teeth with a denture-specific toothbrush and low-abrasion toothpaste.
Bleaching products can weaken dentures and modify their colour, so avoid them. Do not soak dentures with metal attachments in chlorine-containing solutions because the metal will tarnish and corrode.
Avoid using hot water, as this can cause your dentures to warp.
